Connection and Present Parenting Blog Series Episode Two

The intention behind this blog series is to shine a light on different family structures, ways in which both mums & dads, single mums, single dads, homosexual couples all connect with their little ones.

It is about how we do so with simplicity, elaborately or maybe how we don’t do it much at all and how we can work on it. I wanted to also shine a light on how we can also do the same with each other as a couple as well as ourselves as individuals.

Episode Two:

With beautiful Kelly Green, the founder and director of “Beljana Holistic Healing.”

Kel’s Mantra in her everyday, ‘is to enlighten others and steer them onto their right path in life. I just want everyone to be happy.’  Kel is a third generation healer. Both of her Great Grandmothers were spiritually gifted, as is she! Kel will help you to connect with your angels and help you to heal your own life and past wounds.

Name and Age: Kelly Green and I am 34 years old

Children/Child/Infants name and age: Isabella (Bella) 13 years old and Jack 8 years old

Relationship status: Very happily married

What do you do?
I am currently slowly transitioning from a regular day job to following my life purpose and doing that full time.
My “Day Job” is in a chemotherapy day Unit and I am a ward clerk. It’s an amazing place really and I have met incredible, strong, beautiful people. I feel blessed to have this as a day job as I get to witness extraordinary things on a daily basis. Yet my calling, my true life purpose is being a healer. My Great Grandmother was a healer and it’s in my blood and I always say that I have been recruited by the Light again and I am a Lightworker. I heal using Reiki, Theta and Crystals. I am adding potions to my healings and I connect strongly with angels. I teach Reiki all the way up to Master degree and I also teach Angel classes too and I’m looking at creating a Crystal workshop. I like to think I am a Spiritual Teacher too. I am currently going through a break though, as I feel like this is needed. I trust God’s process and I know I’m in the right place at the right time.

How has becoming a parent changed you?
I became a Mother at 21 years of age. It certainly changed me in a sense of realising that life was no longer about me. Becoming a Mother made me realize that I wasn’t a patient person at all, so I’ve gained patience. Having children so young was the best thing that happened to me. I remember being 7 years old and saying to my friends back then, “I am going to be a Mum when I’m 21!” Dreams do come true hey!

What do you do to connect with your little ones?
Our kids and I have these amazing deep and meaningful conversations and it’s so lovely when we do, it’s like an open forum about what’s happening in their lives and they know that they can say anything to me without judgement or getting in trouble. We discuss what annoys us, how other people act etc. a big thing I am trying to teach my children is every single thing they do, say, act or react all comes back on them. We are responsible for ourselves in the sense, we choose to feel a certain way. We choose to say certain things, we choose the options in our lives. We can guide our children to do the right thing but ultimately they are their own person. So when we connect with our
D+M’s it’s about how we can create a positive environment by reacting in positive ways. You know though, they are little humans learning and grounding still,so they still have their moments of struggles.

How do you create present parenting within your home?
Pretty much with what I said in the previous question. Our home is a little different to the regular home. You have my wonderful husband who is still old school and sometimes yells and screams like a banshee, but then he has great moments of uplifting the kids and making them see their true potential – my parenting well, I’m the calm Mother. Well I like to think I am haha. I like to use healing tools for my kids. And again, I like my children to acknowledge the actions that they bring on themselves.
If a child of mine is bullied, I put Himalayan salt in their bag, if my child is scared, they know to call upon Archangel Michael to come protect them, if they need to wear oils at school, they will. Often the children will use crystals too. To me this is present parenting. Using holistic and western ways of parenting is what works in our household.

Do you connect with your partner regularly ie. Date night or day? At home or out?
Oh my goodness! Totally and utterly yes!! We have been together for 15 years and we still can’t get enough of each other! Don’t get me started on this man. I just won’t stop haha. Date nights, sneaky lunches while the kids are at school. Sending beautiful messages to each other. I truly feel like he is my twin flame.

Do you connect with yourself regularly ie. Self care rituals?
Look, generally yes I do, but in the last couple of months, we have ridden a roller coaster ride with emotions – something that I like to keep personal but I have had to be solid and strong for my other family members and I have let my meditation go. I’m currently getting back on top of it and doing lots of self healing etc.
Usually I meditate daily, cleanse my chakras and play with my crystals. Lately I’ve been having hot baths and eye lash extensions hehe that’s been my self love thing to myself.

Any words of wisdom for those that are new to being a parent, ways in which they can connect with their little ones? Ways in which they can find time for themselves and each other?
First of all I just want to say, don’t let other people tell you what you “should” be doing with your baby. YOU are the parent and if you feel like you are doing the right thing then that’s all that matters. Ignore everyone else’s judgement!
Connect with your baby by stopping, taking in a deep breath and take your time daily with your bubs. Don’t let life rush you. Nurture and cherish the time while they are little.
When babies come along, don’t forget about each other! The two of you is the reason why this baby is here. Remember to love your man, cherish him too, he still requires your love.
