Toddlers don’t need ‘Taming”

Toddlers don’t need ‘taming’, or ‘correcting’ – they need our empathy and respect – Robin Grille –

I am a mother of a six year old and a three year old. Their Joy and wonder in everything around us keeps me grounded.. The bugs in the grass, sandcastles made into ‘mummy and daddy’ and the delight in rainbows spread across a dreary sky. But every parent knows that it’s not all rainbows and lollipops! It’s a mixture of fiestas & wrestling matches!

Harvey karp a renowned pediatrician describes toddlers as little “‘cavemen/girls’ walking clumsily, pushing in to go first and screaming when upset!” A perfect analogy! Toddlers are impulsive, they’re rigid & they’re learning! With empathy and understanding, and by ‘putting ourselves in their shoes and treating our little ones as we want to be treated,I believe,is the first step in creating a more peaceful relationship
